Sangchul Park
    • Professor Sangchul Park's research mainly focuses on the synchronic and diachronic description of the Manchu-Tungusic languages. He studied the tense and aspect system of the early Written Manchu in his doctoral dissertation, and conducted a postdoctoral study to describe the similarity of the tense and aspect systems between Manchu and Mongolian from an areal linguistic perspective. He has been participating in the field study and the documentation of endangered Altaic languages since 2007. He is currently participating in the description of Spoken Manchu, a critically endangered language, with interests in investigating the change of its tense system as a consequence of its long contact with the Chinese language.
